Hello there fellow tipplers!
It’s getting hot out there – time to hit the patio or dock to sit back and CHILL! This weekend’s release focuses on popular picks of yore. There are plenty of great wines hitting the shelves this weekend that we have recommended in the past. This newsletter will highlight new selections at great prices – but when you browse the Vintages aisles keep your eyes peeled for past picks. Hopefully the label will call out to you!
WHITE WINE
164624 Michel Delhommeau Cuvee Harmonie Muscadet de Sevre et Maine 2008 (Loire Valley, France) $12.95
Distinct lime and grapefruit notes segue to a smooth minerality. Parker scored this one 91. Good value here!
169706 Domaine de la Pouvraie Vouvray 2008 (Loire Valley, France) $14.95
The nose kicks off with a slight aroma of wet-wool. The palate features green apple & lemon. This would go very well with chicken or shellfish.
147512 13th Street June’s Vineyard Riesling 2008 (Niagara) $16.95
A local wine that is just peachy! Seriously – it’s peachy, refreshing with good minerality and floral notes.
RED WINE
172650 Domaine des Terres Falmet Cinsault 2008 (Midi, France) $12.95
A delicious value presenting a smooth entry, cherry, herbs and floral notes.
166371 Urban Uco Malbec 2008 (Argentina) $12.95
It is good for the price. It is a bit edgy, but it offers intense big fruit flavours with a decent finish.
652206 Balma Venise Beaumes de Venise 2008 (Rhone, France) $13.95
Good value from the Rhone Valley. It’s large and smoky.
75598 Parducci Petite Syrah 2007 (California) $15.95
This is a lovely dry number boasting classic California flavours – dark fruits with hints of chocolate and mint.
169565 Penalolen Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 (Chile) $15.95
A fantastic new world Cab. Sauv. featuring violets, blackcurrant and a certain spiciness. Very well-balanced.
177543 Georges Duboeuf La Trinquee Julienas 2008 (France) $16.95
This is an affordable Beaujolais Cru. It is lighter bodied, interesting – pretty but not too pretty. There’s plenty going on here.
We hope you are having a great summer so far!
