Vintages Value List Release Saturday Sept. 4, 2010

Greetings All!

It is a great release coming your way this weekend – wines hailing from the southern Rhône valley from the spectacular 2007 vintage. Most of the wines from the southern Rhône appellations are blends which predominantly include Grenache and Syrah. The Rhône terroir produces terrific earthy, berry notes that are distinctly dry and Old World in nature. Don’t miss out on the values from this exceptional vintage.

WHITE WINE

499509 Perrin & Fils Réserve Côtes Du Rhône Blanc 2009 (Rhône) $14.95

This medium bodied southern belle features peach and floral flavours with some herbaceous notes. Nicely balanced and quite pleasing.

 

186254 Malivoire Guilty Men Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (VQA Niagara Peninsula) $19.95

Guilty Men – not sure what the reference is for this wine – but we liked the catchy handle and looked at one another and nodded in agreement for A) yes – men are guilty and B) this wine rocks! Peach, grassiness, medium bodied. This is fresh and bright with great length – a pleasant surprise for this grape grown in Ontario.

Wow …voluptuous and brimming of exotic fruit, very elegant! Simply said and simply put this is a must try BC wine!

Large yet subtle, displaying great concentration of fruit and tannins harmoniously on the palate. This is a sure pleaser and an excellent value! Drink now or cellar for 2-4+ years

169888 Carta Vieja Limited Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Chile) $13.95

Here’s a good solid Chilean cab. featuring tons of blackberry, nicely balanced leading to a great finish.

 

175638 Grandes Serres Côtes Du Rhône-Villages Signargues 2007 (Rhône) $14.95

Rich notes of plum, black pepper and cherry. It is extremely well-balanced. It could lie down for a couple of years OR have it tonight!

175657 Bodegas Nieto Senetiner Don Nicanor Malbec 2008 (Mendoza) $15.00

A rustic Malbec that is as it should be – smoke and dark berries prevail.
