The 2006 edition of Cheap Eats Toronto has hit the presses and will be lining book shelves around the city some time next week.... The book, also available online, will cost you just under 12 loonies before tax... or approx 2.5 breakfasts. If you're too cheap for even that, check out the Eat & Drink section or search "Cheap Eats" on blogTO.

Notes From A Bay Street CheapEater

In response to some very pointed, and accurate, comments from our friends and readers, we are introducing a semi-regular feature to the - .

Bay Street CheapEater

As you know, the team is constantly collecting recommendations and checking out restaurants across the city.  However, we've realized (with a little help) that between publications we are being a little stingy with that information and is our first step in addressing this.

Gerry, or as he is known in your handy-dandy guide, is going to start sharing his lunch explorations through the Financial District.  works off Bay Street and he is always trolling the food courts and back streets looking for for good and cheap eats to distract him from his day job.

In addition to being a regular contributor to ,  is the owner of Plethora Press and co-publisher of the CheapEats Restaurant Guides. He also takes on the daunting task of visiting almost 400 restaurants to ensure consistency in the style and cleanliness before a new edition of goes to print.   is one busy CheapEater.

Lunch Money Day - Feb 23rd.

LunchmoneyToday is Second Harvest's Lunch Money Day.

The idea is to brown bag it and donate what you would normally spend on lunch.

My friend, and CheapEats contributor AW sent me the following reminder: "As much as I'd hate to become known as a one-stop beg-a-thon, here I am, asking you to part with a buck or two tomorrow to help out on Lunch Money Day.

Second Harvest is my very favourite non-profit on earth - great people with great ideas doing great work - getting surplus fresh food that would otherwise go to waste, and delivering it into the mouths of Toronto's hungry and homeless. I just so happen to be volunteering for Lunch Money day tomorrow - if you're by the Exchange Tower, pop by and say hi while I sing for scheckels!"

It's a little late to brown bag it now, so to make it a little easier I've put a list of cheapeats where you can get lunch for under $5 below the fold.
