The 2006 edition of Cheap Eats Toronto has hit the presses and will be lining book shelves around the city some time next week.... The book, also available online, will cost you just under 12 loonies before tax... or approx 2.5 breakfasts. If you're too cheap for even that, check out the Eat & Drink section or search "Cheap Eats" on blogTO.

But first some cool news. The new Cheapeats Toronto book is all printed and ready to go out! Check out http://www.cheapeatstoronto.com for more information-- and make sure to get your copy when it's in stores next week! You won't regret it. In fact, even if you don't live in TO, you should get a copy, anyways, just cuz it's the cool thing to do. Oh and you should really get a Cheapeats Ottawa, too. So wander on over to your local bookstore and make them sell you one of each. Now. Stop reading and go. Now. :)
  • The Sour Patch - Toronto Eats on the Cheap

What's Up With Roy Square?

In response to What's Up With Saigon Sister?, Satish left the following comment:

I also have heard that the Biryani House in Roy Square is also closing down! Has this something to do with the new condo complex on Yonge and Bloor?

I haven't heard anything about that recently, however the rumour that Roy Square was going to be closed down and converted into condos was flying around in 2002 too.

In fact, it's one of the reason why moved the original Biryani House down to Wellesley.  (Though he hasn't been helming that one since April either.)

The rumour was the primary reason there are no Roy Square restaurants in the first two editions of CheapEats Toronto. By the third edition we figured it was just a rumour and Biryani House, Ritz and The Falafel House all made the book.

I guess we'll have to do a bit more digging for the next edition (which we're starting work on in January).

Please let us know if you hear anything concrete or see signs going up.
